FAQ

1. Q: Should I rotate my Serta mattress?

A: We suggest that all mattresses be rotated every 6-9 months for an even break-in. If you decide to rotate your mattress, it is up to you, to determine how frequently you would like the product turned.

2. Q: My new mattress smells. What can I do?

A: Your new Serta mattress may have a slight odor upon opening. This is due to odors that may have been trapped in the tight protective packaging being released upon opening. If you notice a smell, we recommend allowing your product(s) to air out in a well-ventilated room for at least a couple of hours before covering it with sheets.

3. Q: What mattress firmness should I buy?

A: Firmness is something that is going to be a bit subjective from person to person. We do have a few guidelines that can help you to find the best fit for your needs. We recommend thinking about what you are looking for in a mattress first, and where your problem areas are. It tends to be easier to point in the direction of what model may work best from there.

The easiest way to narrow down what you are looking for is to dive into what kind of sleeping position you prefer.

Stomach sleepers tend to benefit from an overall firmer feel. Usually trying to avoid a pillow top model, and searching for a mattress that is going to be on the Firm or Extra Firm side will help with the support the stomach sleepers need, and will not be too soft. We usually recommend not selecting a model that is softer than a medium feel, as that tends to be too soft for this type of sleeper.

Back sleepers tend to benefit from a Firm to a Medium feel mattress. These mattresses provide enough support to keep your neck and back aligned and offer enough pressure relief to help cradle those critical pressure points.

Side sleepers usually find themselves looking into a Medium or Plush feeling mattress. Often, side sleepers will look at a Pillow Top model to add an extra bit of softness to the mattress's comfort level. Side sleepers have critical pressure points on the hip and shoulder area that often require a bit more pressure relief than comes from a Medium mattress or softer.

These guidelines tend to narrow down the search a little bit, but each person is different and will have different needs. 4. Q: How do I clean my mattress?

A: To clean your mattress, we suggest applying baking soda to the soiled area and letting it stand for about 15 minutes. Then, vacuum and repeat as needed. It's important that you also air the product out as much as possible.

We do not recommend applying liquids to the product. Applying liquids may stain the fabric and could potentially make the soiled area worse. Moisture or chemicals applied directly to the mattress can cause premature breakdown of the foam and damage the product.

In order to protect your mattress from stains and spills, we recommend using a mattress protector. This will also help with the overall health and lifespan of your mattress.

5. Q: What kind of foundation do I need?

A: All of our mattresses can be used on a variety of foundations. Our Serta Foundation or platform frames with no more than 2" between slats, or adjustable bases all work well. We recommend ensuring any foundation you use is in good working shape, as an issue with the foundation could impact the comfort and longevity of your mattress.

6. Q: Do I need a mattress protector?

A: We do recommend using a mattress protector to keep your mattress safe from accidents, spills, liquids, dust, and anything else that could cause it to break down along the way.

7. Q: Do you make custom size mattresses?

A: We are able to provide custom sizes. For more detail you should contact our authorized dealer.
